On successful completion of this program, and on approval of an application to the Department of Queensland Transport and Main Roads (TMR), the trainee will be able to control traffic on a road way using a Stop/Slow bat in accordance with legislative requirements and guidelines set out in the MUTCD Part 3.

RIICOM201E: Communicate in the workplace
1. Plan and prepare for workplace communication using equipment and systems
2. Communicate using communication equipment and systems

RIIWHS201E: Work Safely and follow WHS Policies and Procedures
1. Access and apply site safety procedures
2. Apply personal safety measures
3. Apply operational safety measures
4. Maintain personal wellbeing
5. Identify and report incidents

For candidates who wish to undertake Traffic Control Renewal training the following applies:

• Must hold a current QLD Traffic Control licence.
• Must be able to provide currency of industry practice of at least 32 hours as a Traffic Controller in the last 12 months.
• Undergo a criminal history check carried out by the Department of Transport and Main Roads.
• Have a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI).

This course utilises a blended delivery mode which incorporates face to face delivery and applied learning in a simulated environment and the workplace experience.

• Theory: 8 hours
• Evidence: minimum 32 hours

Classroom based training - Written assessment which requires a 100% pass mark.

On completion of the program successful participants are issued the following Statements of Attainment which form part of the traffic controller skill set:

• RIIWHS205E: Control traffic with stop-slow bat,
• RIICOM201E: Communicate in the workplace, and
• RIIWHS201E: Work Safely and follow WHS Policies and Procedures

Statement of Attainment can be submitted to TMR within 12 months of attainment. TMR Traffic Controller Accreditation is issued for 3 years.
