I have been involved in the Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) industry for over 25 years in Federal, State and Local Governments. I have also owned and managed very large Traffic Control Companies including Traffic Management People and are the current owner of Upskills QLD which I founded 14 years ago. Both are QLD Registered Traffic Management Companies with Quality and Safety assurance to ISO9001 and ISO45001. Upskills QLD is an RTO, licensed to deliver approved traffic training in QLD by the QLD Dept of Transport and Main Roads (TMR).
I am also a registered unrestricted Traffic Management Designer and have been registered as a Traffic Trainer with the QLD Department of Transport and Main Roads for over 15 years.
I sit on a number of working groups for industry and training for the implementation of the National Harmonisation of Temporary Traffic Management project in QLD. My belief is although compliance is very important for organisations to meet their statutory and legislative requirements, it is the competence of the individual that is foremost in completing the job safely.
People are my passion. At Upskills Qld we are not like other RTOs – here, it’s all about you, the learner. Your experience with us will be enjoyable, informative and respectful. But, most importantly, when you leave us you will be competent in the tasks and at the level of the course you have undertaken with us. We enjoy nothing more than turning ordinary people into everyday legends.

Accounts Manager
I manage the Accounts and Finances of Upskills Qld. My experience stems from 10 years as the Financial Controller with Traffic Management People and logistic management in the Department of Defence, NSW Coal Compensation Board, NSW Work Cover, QLD Ambulance. My passion is people before process and the Upskills QLD motto ‘People Focused Training’ reflects mine and Brian’s individual purpose.
Alana Weir
RTO Manager
With more than 15 years of dedicated experience across the Vocational Education and Training (VET), early childhood, and compliance sectors, Alana brings a rare blend of operational expertise, people-focused leadership, and unwavering commitment to quality to her role as RTO Manager at Upskills Training.
Alana’s career has been built on a strong foundation in education and training, progressing from hands-on training and assessment roles to senior coordination, compliance, and leadership positions. She has delivered and developed nationally recognised qualifications, led RTO teams, built industry partnerships, managed audit and regulatory requirements, and strengthened organisational capability through robust systems, processes, and resource development. Her roles as Training & Compliance Coordinator, RTO Coordinator, and RTO Program and Compliance Coordinator have equipped her with deep knowledge of the Standards for RTOs, ASQA frameworks, User Choice and VET Investment requirements, AVETMISS reporting, and the full lifecycle of quality training delivery.
Known for her proactive mindset and high attention to detail, Alana is passionate about creating training environments where both learners and trainers can thrive. Her strengths span compliance, curriculum development, continuous improvement, learner and trainer support, and driving operational excellence. She is highly regarded for her ability to streamline processes, interpret complex regulatory requirements, and support teams through clear communication, coaching, and collaboration.
At Upskills Training, Alana leads with energy, professionalism and purpose. She champions best practice in training and assessment, ensures compliance across all programs, and works closely with industry to maintain relevance and quality across the organisation’s traffic control, construction, and safety training offerings. With extensive experience in LMS/SMS management, assessment integrity, policy development, and stakeholder engagement, she ensures that students receive a seamless, supported learning experience—from enrolment to certification.

Jason Kassulke

Jason Kassulke is an experienced vocational Trainer and Assessor with a strong background in the traffic management industry. With over 9 years of hands-on industry experience working as a Traffic Management Supervisor, Jason brings real-world knowledge, practical insight, and current industry best practice into every training session.
Over the past 4 years, Jason has been actively delivering vocational education and training, supported by ongoing professional development and continuous upskilling to ensure compliance with current standards, legislation, and industry requirements.

Scott Glasson

My name is Scott, and I’ve been working in traffic management for just over 16 years. I’ve been involved in all areas of the industry, starting on the ground and running crews as a Team Leader, through to working on major civil projects. One of my standout roles was working as a Traffic Leading Hand/Foreman on the Toowoomba Bypass.
I moved into training and assessing to help lift safety standards on worksites and to show people how to do the job properly, safely, and in line with compliance requirements. I’ve been training for over six years now and bring a strong, practical approach to my work, backed by real-world experience and a solid focus on safety, compliance, and doing things the right way.

My name is Kristy, and I’m an experienced Traffic Controller and Traffic Management Implementer with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and real-world application. I’ve been working in traffic management for a number of years and have experience across urban works, highways, and complex traffic sites. I’m practical, approachable, and clear in my communication, and I enjoy working with people from all backgrounds.
I’m excited to bring my on-site experience into the classroom with Upskills QLD, helping students build confidence, understand why we do things a certain way, and apply safe, compliant practices on real worksites. I’m passionate about supporting students to become job-ready, work safely around live traffic, and take pride in the role they play on site.

Ashleigh O'Meley

Hi, I’m Ashleigh, a Provisional Trainer at Upskills QLD with a genuine passion for helping people learn, build confidence, and achieve their career goals.
With extensive experience in the Traffic Management industry, I have worked across all categories of the Queensland road network, delivering Traffic Control and Traffic Management Implementation in a wide range of environments. My industry background allows me to bring real-world knowledge and practical experience into every training session.
I believe the best learning happens in a positive and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, developing practical skills, and gaining the confidence they need to succeed in the workplace. My goal is to ensure every student leaves training feeling prepared, capable, and job-ready.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me with my horses. I have competed successfully at state level and continue to expand my knowledge and skills in equestrian disciplines. Years of training and working with horses have taught me patience, clear communication, and the importance of building confidence—qualities I bring into my role as a trainer every day.

Sammy and Ash were very good presenters. The course materials were excellent with good explanations. The facility was good although they need cloths and a tea towel and maybe another toilet. There was a lot to take in including a number of acronyms and jargon to take in on one day but it was enjoyable. Well done
