I have been involved in the Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) industry for over 25 years in Federal, State and Local Governments. I have also owned and managed very large Traffic Control Companies including Traffic Management People and are the current owner of Upskills QLD which I founded 14 years ago. Both are QLD Registered Traffic Management Companies with Quality and Safety assurance to ISO9001 and ISO45001. Upskills QLD is an RTO, licensed to deliver approved traffic training in QLD by the QLD Dept of Transport and Main Roads (TMR).
I am also a registered unrestricted Traffic Management Designer and have been registered as a Traffic Trainer with the QLD Department of Transport and Main Roads for over 15 years.
I sit on a number of working groups for industry and training for the implementation of the National Harmonisation of Temporary Traffic Management project in QLD. My belief is although compliance is very important for organisations to meet their statutory and legislative requirements, it is the competence of the individual that is foremost in completing the job safely.
People are my passion. At Upskills Qld we are not like other RTOs – here, it’s all about you, the learner. Your experience with us will be enjoyable, informative and respectful. But, most importantly, when you leave us you will be competent in the tasks and at the level of the course you have undertaken with us. I manage the Accounts and Finances of Upskills Qld. My experience stems from 10 years as the Financial Controller with Traffic Management People and logistic management in the Department of Defence, NSW Coal Compensation Board, NSW Work Cover, QLD Ambulance. My passion is people before process and the Upskills QLD motto ‘People Focused Training’ reflects mine and Brian’s individual purpose.

With more than 15 years of dedicated experience across the Vocational Education and Training (VET), early childhood, and compliance sectors, Alana brings a rare blend of operational expertise, people-focused leadership, and unwavering commitment to quality to her role as RTO Manager at Upskills Training.
Alana’s career has been built on a strong foundation in education and training, progressing from hands-on training and assessment roles to senior coordination, compliance, and leadership positions. She has delivered and developed nationally recognised qualifications, led RTO teams, built industry partnerships, managed audit and regulatory requirements, and strengthened organisational capability through robust systems, processes, and resource development. Her roles as Training & Compliance Coordinator, RTO Coordinator, and RTO Program and Compliance Coordinator have equipped her with deep knowledge of the Standards for RTOs, ASQA frameworks, User Choice and VET Investment requirements, AVETMISS reporting, and the full lifecycle of quality training delivery.
Known for her proactive mindset and high attention to detail, Alana is passionate about creating training environments where both learners and trainers can thrive. Her strengths span compliance, curriculum development, continuous improvement, learner and trainer support, and driving operational excellence. She is highly regarded for her ability to streamline processes, interpret complex regulatory requirements, and support teams through clear communication, coaching, and collaboration.
At Upskills Training, Alana leads with energy, professionalism and purpose. She champions best practice in training and assessment, ensures compliance across all programs, and works closely with industry to maintain relevance and quality across the organisation’s traffic control, construction, and safety training offerings. With extensive experience in LMS/SMS management, assessment integrity, policy development, and stakeholder engagement, she ensures that students receive a seamless, supported learning experience—from enrolment to certification.

I bring to Upskills Qld my extensive experience mentoring and upskilling staff across various inhouse and industry-wide legislation, policies and procedures. I am deeply passionate about changing attitudes in the industry and I believe that starts in the classroom. I recently joined Upskills QLD as I really connected with their ethos and purpose and approach to training driven by a real desire to bring the best out of people. They really do help people become legends and I wanted to become part of that too.
My previous experience working with the Australian Defence Force in Operational Regiments, Regimental Roles, former soldier and as an instructor in training centres taught me the value of having a positive attitude combined with knowledge to excel in life and make a difference.
After retiring from the ADF, I became a Traffic Controller with the Miscellaneous Security Industries before quickly advancing to Manager responsible for implementing traffic guidance schemes, Traffic Management Design and teaching Traffic Control.
I am focused on training; I believe in training people to perform safely and to the required state rules, laws, and legislation. I maintain a high safety level for work crews and the travelling public.

3 days Traffic Course with Jason Kassulke Jason is amazing, he has presented the course perfectly, with clear information, direction and given grateful care answering our questions clearly and giving us an full understanding to the Career Development within The Traffic Control Industry and how to assist us getting ahead within this industry. A good example of this is I take longer to do my theory, and I came in for the theory with a close to borderline migraine, when I came to Jason and explained this, Jason did what he could to assist easing what he could allowing me the time I needed, checking in not just on me but all of us. Because of Jason's care and attention to all details, knowledge and his understanding I was able to keep up with everyone. I would not hesitate to take further training under Jason's Training

Training was on point, the trainer Jase went into details on specific important points in relation to the course, sharing real experiences with everyone to provide understanding of a lot of aspects of different things.
